Midwinter Practice
I look outside and I see winter
This bluster of unknowns that makes me weary to go outside.
I am halfway deep
where Midlife means I am neither at the beginning or the end;
We are half past the awe of newly fallen snow but not yet nearing Spring.
At night sometimes the sky is light from moon glowed snow
a feather light fabric that blankets the world.
It is quiet yet heavy in how it envelopes the landscape
and summer seems far off.
I believe a day will come when the cold night ends
and we can embrace again but
for now I settle in
marking Midwinter.
